I will be keeping all my receipts for today so that I can claim the trip expenses on my next tax return. It provided us with invaluable information for our next business venture. Turns out that if you open a business in Hahndorf where thousands of wine soaked visitors stumble through each day, hang a German flag outside your door and put something German sounding in your name, you can sell any old crap.
Luckily, I didn't fall into the trap of purchasing something I'd realize was tacky rubbish the next day after coming down off a wine fueled "Cultural" high. Being tanked up on good locally brewed German beer instead, I was far more discerning. Hahndorf does have some gems if you know where to look. I found the only shop in the district selling authentic German tartan products. I wasn't able to meet the sporan wearing makers of these goods (I would love to have learnt more about the Celtic Germans) but I think I'm in love with the bonny wee Celtic Mädchen I did meet.
