The last of the essential trip supplies was purchased onFriday. I did a quick trip down to Gerringong to try out a number of boards from the surf shop there before eventually buying one. Two brilliant days of surfing - good waves and a bunch of different boards to play with. The board I finally chose is a Mark Richards epoxy swallow tail, shaped by the man himself. Very light, very fast, extremely responsive and capable of the most amazing super fast turns. On my first cutback, I put in as much effort as I do on my old 9 year old fibreglass board and instead of a tightish carve back to the break I found myself slashing 270 degrees and over the back of the wave before I could control it. And all at speed! I've gone from a Holden Commodore to a super twitchy formula 1 racer!
